I would like to let you all know what happened to Brian so I don't have to explain what happened every time I see someone I haven't seen yet.
Brian had been suffering from what was diagnosed as vertigo for about 8 weeks, On November 4th he had a vestibular stroke. It wasn't vertigo. The stroke affected his brain stem and he lost all ability to use his body. He was suffering from "locked in" syndrome. Along with Brian and his family we decided the most compassionate thing we could do was move him to Hospice where he passed away surrounded by love from his family and myself.
Please do not be afraid to talk to me about Brian, I would love to keep his memory alive. The Tallahassee Democrat wrote a lovely article about him you can read it
I appreciate every kind letter, text or voice mail I have received. It is hard for me to reply sometimes but know that I appreciate you all.
